Re: Is the CD-i touchpad controller good, or bad?...

It depends. Personally, I never cared for it due to their being slight lag/delay from when you press something to when something happens on screen. Other than that, the controller is comfortable enough. I prefer to stick with the mouse for most games since there is no lag and it's the most precise, ...

Re: Nintendo is possibly infringing on two Philips patents

CD-i 2, eh? That's the first time I've heard of that. Is there much information known about this cancelled CD-i follow-up/project?

Wow, very cool! Is it the full game, or just an unfinished version? Either way, that's awesome. :)

The game is an interactive movie where death is around every corner. You have to press buttons at the right time to get him to climb back up after falling through the bridge (I think it's one of the directional buttons, "up" probably).

Truth be told, I don't know if the CD-i was designed with games in mind. However, I know that some of the early games for it weren't fully thought out. For instance, Tetris. I know everyone loves to, well--love this game, but it's half-baked in my opinion from an actual gameplay perspective (it's gr...

I'm not sure quite honestly, Alan. Last time I used it, on the couple games I tried, several background elements would not show during gameplay (Zenith for instance was unplayable--I could only see the bouncing ball and the HUD portions). I meant to go through the rest of my CD-i library with the un...

BOXED Kyocera Pro 1000S on eBay!

I'm not sure if anyone has seen it yet, but a boxed (possibly complete?) Kyocera Pro 1000S CD-i player popped up on eBay! When I received my bare console (with hookups) last year, it sounded like there wasn't a ton of information available on them, nor do I recall seeing any photos of the actual pac...

Looks like we have some arcade gamers, very nice! :) I hope to get another JAMMA cabinet soon. Sold my only one about 9 years ago, but held on to my Sega ST-V board with the intentions of eventually getting another cab. Depending on how my finances work out in the next couple of months, I may actual...

Nothing recently. Sold off a few games, actually (kept the ones I enjoy). A little ways back though I did pick up Pyramid Adventures. Was finally able to find it for a decent price (not the $50+ people on eBay try to list them for). I also got Flashback for a decent price as well. Still haven't gott...

Excellent find! It's good that they have been preserved, rather than trashed. (no pun intended).

Well-written article, despite being relatively short.

I like their words about The Apprentice: "Just a traditional, fantastical 2D platformer that played to precisely none of the CD-i's strengths, and got away with it."

Thanks for sharing! :)

To be honest? $50 - $75 for a base unit without much in terms of games and accessories. Just something to get you going. Problem is, there are usually large bundles (they are bound to go for a couple of 'bills), or absurdly high BIN prices that are, well, overpriced! Keep an eye out though, you can ...
