Re: Tetris Music

Interesting question. If the tracks were licensed from an existing artist it's probable that the artist's name would be plastered all over the release -- so it's more likely that it was a "work for hire" where the songs were specifically written for the game, and the composer/artist took a bigger pa...

Re: Remade: The Apprentice for PC

Just wanted to say that this is an awesome project! :D I probably won't be playtesting since I'm a Mac user and own the original game anyway, but I love it when the standout titles for systems are ported to modern platform. Something similar happened with Dungeons of Daggorath for the Tandy Color Co...

Re: De Zaak van Sam - translated review

My wife and I finally got around to playing through this a few days ago. It ultimately turns out to be very short and simple, but it's good fun while it lasts. We were confused at first by the near-total lack of a UI, but once we figured out that we simply needed to press a button at the right time ...

Re: De Zaak van Sam - translated review

Ah, that's a great point! I hadn't thought of that approach, but going straight to the photo albums would work well. :) Yes, you have tons of terrific information in there, including reviews of several games that weren't in the spreadsheet list I'd been keeping, like Peugeot 406 - En Vale De Loire, ...

Re: Steel Machine video review and some extra info!

I beat Steel Machine today, so it's neat to read these recollections (though actually I've read them before). Whatever its flaws, I can certainly appreciate the technical achievement that went into making it. I actually think it's quite a bit easier than Seb makes it sound; Level 3 was by far the ha...

Re: De Zaak van Sam - translated review

You're very welcome, Alan! :D I did some nosing around just now and found the Zaak von Sam review on your FB page. But I'm hesitant to look at it until I've actually played and beaten the game, lest there be any spoilers (even minor ones). BTW have you ever considered putting the content of your FB ...

De Zaak van Sam - translated review

The September 1997 issue of CD-interactief had a cover story & review of De Zaak van Sam (The Case of Sam) that piqued my interest, though it's in Dutch (a language I don't speak beyond a few words here and there). Fortunately, Archive.org has scans of the magazine and OCR that's about 80% accurate ...

Re: The Apprentice Regional Variations

Bumping a 12-year-old thread here (!), but seems as good a place as any to ask: does The Apprentice run properly, then, when you play a NTSC/60Hz copy on PAL/50Hz hardware, and vice versa? In other words, if I buy (for example) a Dutch copy of The Apprentice, will I be able to play it at the intende...

Re: New member? Say Hi!

Glad to be able to post at last! I've been a CD-i owner since 2015, though I'd wanted one ever since I saw the infomercial in the 1990s with Link: Faces of Evil. Naturally, it was the first game I beat when I got the system. :) My CD-i is an LG GDI-700M, which I bought after extensive research into ...

Re: LG GDI-700

I chose to go with this unit as my first CD-i console and have been very happy with it. Replaceable battery, built-in DVC, PAL/NTSC switch, great AV quality, compatible with my SNES-to-CD-i controller adapter, and reads CDRs with no problem...it's been great. :) Oddly enough the only issue I've had ...
