I live in the US and like most Americans I speak English pretty well. But I am also learning two foreign languages at the moment which I know is less common in our culture. First I am learning Irish partly because my mom is of Irish ancestry and partly cuz of curiosity and also partly because well the language is dieing and my sisters and I want to contribute to the furthering of a language from our ancestors.

I am also learning German mostly for school but also because my dad is all German blood and I have always wanted to learn German. I am also fairly proficient in Spanish because I lived in a heavy hispanic community for a few years and took a class in HS and had a lot of spanish speaking friends. I am getting away from Spanish now and focusing on German and Irish at the moment but if I can master those two I might give French a try who knows.

So just curious who else here can speak or is learning to speak any languages besides English?

Very mild French.

I'm amazed you can learn 2 languages at the same time. I have enough struggles just with one.

yeah it is hard but I figured I learned so much Spanish without even giving any effort and most Europeans learn 2-3 languages why can't I?

Lol, at school we had Dutch, English, German and French. Choice options were Latin, Greek or Spanish.

I speak German and Swedish and just a bit of French. Learned them because of family roots etc.
