Independent Game Stores

Been quite a few articles in a magazine I subscribe to called EDGE about the diminishing independent game store scene. Whats your opinion on the subject? Vote in the poll and voice yout opinion below.
I tend to buy the occassional game from my independent store partly out of a sense of guilt because I do raid them for free promotional goodies quite often!! For example, today I picked up a bunch of posters and the new A4 cardboard promotional advertisements that CAPCOM started and others have copied. The pick of the bunch was definately the Resident Evil 4 promotional board for the upcoming PS2 release, if you hadn't noticed i'm a huge fan of Resi games. So I browsed the shop and saw a copy of Otagi 2 for sale, used but excellent condition and not very common on ebay so I bought it.
Usually for the games I want on release i'd always turn to the on-line retailer for the best prices. Then again sometimes the highstreet surprises me like the recent release of Killer 7 knocked down to £19.99 for a brand new copy... very nice, don't mind if I do!!
