Wow... just downloaded the demo available from the official website What Is Fear and this game is simply amazing. It's certainly the most visceral FPS game i've played to date. I'm yet to work out the optimal settings for my computer but you will require a high end PC RIG to get the true atmosphere this game was made for. I'm off to play somemore!! :P

Cant agree more there. I have played the demo at least 15 times now, and I still can get over how good it is.

Im seriously thinking of trying to find some cheats for it just so I can get some decent screenshots for use in photoshop , as the oficial ones are actualyl set on pretty standard detail lol.

I was a little apprehensive about how they were going to pull off the "Scares" which they seemed to be pushing alot through the press and general publicity wise. After being completely underwhelmed by the likes of DOOM 3 with monsters predictably jumping out of every dark corner!!

Monolith have done a fine job on this angle, even when you know something is going to happen it gets the heart racing. One instance sticks out as the best in the demo where they "Fright" you once quickly followed by another, "Double Whammy" and expertly designed!! Now i'm quite looking forward to "Condemned: Criminal Origins" available for the 360 around launch time from the same developer. You can check out a pretty good Developer Interview on GameSpot

Yes they did handle the "scares" well and I liked the incluson of the fact that the characters heart starts racing aswell at certain points.

I SHOULD be borrowing this off a friend today so I can get further than just the one mix and match level of the demo, which, having dabbled in map making for other games like the Half-Life and Unreal series of games, I find that it was well put together for what is completely seperate levels in the full game lol.
