Magnavox Vs. Activision

Post by Bas » Tue Jan 31, 2006 10:45 pm

caught a glimpse from another forum:

"I read a little article that Magnavox sued Activision in the early 90s, and won. Activision lost this courtcase, but does anyone know what it was about?

I read the consequences were that Activision (and Infocom) had to be rescued (moneywise) by The Disc Company.

Also, is there any old Activision employee still working for the company, or is the nowadays Activision nothing to do with the old 80s company?"

Interesting! And you know why?

Some years before that, Philips (Magnavox) was share-stockholder of Activision... With the Odyssee being a very important landmark, a great set of patents Philips had to compete with newer software business. When they sold it, Activision still tried to violate certain patents. That's why they sued them. Link!
