Anything relating to CD-i can be discussed in this forum. From the multiple hardware iterations of the system to the sofware including games, reference, music and Video CDs. Maybe you hold an interest in Philips Media and the many development houses set up to cater for CD-i if so then this is the forum.

Sony CD-i players

Post by Bas » Fri Apr 06, 2007 9:27 am

I would like to ask all of you what you know of the Sony CD-i players. What is the difference between the IVO-10 and IVO-11? Is this only something about new software, new drivers or anything?

and does anyone has a picture of the sony player without the LCD screen, as is described at ICDIA: "The IVO-V11 was an improved version of the IVO-V10, it solved some compatibility issues and it was compatible with the standard for CD-i pointing devices. Besides these models, there was also a Sony CD-i portable without an LCD screen."

I don't know a lot about Sony CD-i but it sounds like they ran their own research on CD-i, regarding all the compatibility issues.

And the DVC prototype is also as mysterious as very interesting.

Please tell me everything ;)

Well the DVC prototype is a rumour I had been told at CGEXPO from a guy that appeared pretty clued into the format. At least I like to believe his story and it sounded feasable. Never seen the screenless version. However I have noticed a variation in the later IVO-11 units and one I'm really keen to get a hold of. My unit is described as a 'CD-Interactive' player embossed on the front in gold. I have seen a version called 'The Intelligent Discman' which is brilliant and in my opinion is an evolution of the 'Walkman' brand. Maybe SONY did have more faith in the idea at that time?
