Status Microcosm CD-i

Anything relating to CD-i can be discussed in this forum. From the multiple hardware iterations of the system to the sofware including games, reference, music and Video CDs. Maybe you hold an interest in Philips Media and the many development houses set up to cater for CD-i if so then this is the forum.

@Bas: Any success with the Microcosm disc yet? I'm sure we can get an iso out of it, just tell me what the current status is. Too sad that you don't live in Germany; otherwise you could have brought along the disc. I never found a disc I was not able to dump or copy with my hardware.

By the way, there's a website dedicated to unreleaed games at http://www.gamesthatwerent.com. Maybe someone wants to start a GTW website covering the CD-i?

No luck, but actually, I haven't tried anything new :) The status is, any of the known programs like CloneCD and stuff doesn't seem to do anything. However, CloneCD shows this content of the disc:

But when you start to create an image (or try to copy it), it is done in 1 second. The image is 4kb, that can't be good....

Perhaps there is a way to go, but I can't find anything!

Well, at least it shows to correct size of the disc, everything else is false data caused by the invalid toc.

Could you please install burnatonce? Here's the download link:
http://www.burnatonce.net/files/bao0995.exe

It's a very simple but powerful program based on cdrdao. Try to make an image of the Microcosm disc with it, it should ignore the invalid toc.

The link you gave shows me this:

403 Permission Denied
You do not have permission for this request /files/bao0995.exe

Do you have the same thing?

Thanks for all the help, by the way! Up to go for a CD-i GTW website, that would be very cool! Could be a large one, too!!

[edit] forget it, I found it already, sorry

Whoops, there's a referer check, but you were smart enough to go to http://www.burnatonce.net instead I guess.

Would be nice to see a CD-i GTW website in the future. :) We are also always looking for people who are writing reviews/features/articles about unreleased games for our portal. In case you or someone else here want to contribute something.

//edit:
Nice video, by the way. Interesting to see how they changed the intro movie for the CD-i version.

At least it's doing something, check the report out:

Go to Settings->Device Settings. Toggle the "Read Raw" option and try again. If you have more than one cd/dvd drive and it still doesn't work, try the other drive(s).

Can you read that? FINISHED SUCCESSFULLY???

Dear God, where is my CD-i player! Where is a spare CD-R! How I couldn;t suspect something to work like this, thanks Windowskiller!

Don't burn the image to a CD-R just yet, as you would only waste a CD-R. As you can see from the report, mode 1 was assumed, but CD-i discs are using mode 2. So the toc file must be modified. Could you please upload the toc file and a small chunk of the data file to my server? (pm me for details)

Just waiting for Bas to test it on his CD-i player, but I think the invalid toc has been beaten. :)
