CDi software serials, are they country related?

Anything relating to CD-i can be discussed in this forum. From the multiple hardware iterations of the system to the sofware including games, reference, music and Video CDs. Maybe you hold an interest in Philips Media and the many development houses set up to cater for CD-i if so then this is the forum.

Post by thomas » Tue Sep 12, 2006 10:59 pm

so far I got the following starting with:

310690***-2
69****-2
810 ****
811 ****

is it something to do with country of origin, or not?

Main region codes only differ between the USA batch and the EU batch. Apparently also japanese versions have been released of 'some'(?) titles, although I've never seen one from Philips. The 810 and 811 series are for whole europe, not only UK ;)

At the time Digital Video came off the ground, the USA market was almost vanished anyway.

interesting question by the way!

812 - France

819 - (looks like english only, no multi-language)

810 - European multi-language

It's not all that consequent though, 814 releases (NL) are not just dutch regional titles games, like Zenith is in multi-language but has a 814 code.

Most of the time 811 (UK), 812 (F), 813 (D), 814 (NL) are from regional editions like Lost eden, Secret Mission, Asterix, ...

I'm sure this goes on, with italian, spanish and other regions! anyone?
