US CD-i games

Anything relating to CD-i can be discussed in this forum. From the multiple hardware iterations of the system to the sofware including games, reference, music and Video CDs. Maybe you hold an interest in Philips Media and the many development houses set up to cater for CD-i if so then this is the forum.

US CD-i games

Post by T.A.P. » Fri Jan 15, 2010 4:40 pm

Anyone have a complete list of US releases?

I've got a system coming, so I figured I should start tracking down some games for it.

CD-i plays both EU, JAP and US games, so you don't have to look specifically for US releases. But a complete list of games that were released in US, no...

How well do Euro games run on a US system?

If I buy the Euro version of the game, will it run at 50FPS instead of 60, or are they like Neo Geo games?

all the interesting stuff is EU so I doubt you would only want to collect US releases. I think any region software will run at 60Hz if you load it on a US machine, (although Im not positive of that). If you get a DVS or LG machine you can change between 50 and 60Hz with a switch on the back.

all the most sought after games are europe only such as - Mad Dog II, Last Bounty Hunter, Crime Patrol, Drug Wars, Lost Ride, Solar Crusade, Atlantis the Last Resort, de Zaak van Sam, Creature Shock, Zelda's Adventure, etc...

and all the strange/unique/obscure games are EURO too with the exception of a couple JAP titles

Were all US games released in large plastic clamshell cases, or just the early ones?

I've picked up a few games, and two them came in large clamshells, and two were in standard jewel cases with cardboard sleeves over them.

No, the first batch was in a large plastic box with a sticker on it. The second batch was in a large jewelcase. The last batch was in a normal jewelcase.

Is there anyway to tell later US CDi releases apart from there European counterparts?

oh yes, most 'newer' US games always have a category tag on the top left corner. Movies have 'CD-i MOVIES' on it and games have 'CD-i GAMES', sort of that. Later there was only the CD-i logo printed extra on the cover. EU games don't have that.
I guess the most safe call is to check the back: european games say 'Printed in Germany', US games say 'Printed in the USA' (as long as Philips Media is the publisher, but with CD-i that's about 95% of all the games.

Do all games that came in a jewel case have the outer cardboard sleeve? I've found a copy of Link: Faces of Evil and Zelda: Wand of Gamelon, but neither has a cardboard sleeve.
