Crime Patrol

Post by Protoman85 » Sun Apr 17, 2011 3:42 pm

This game (not Crime Patrol 2) seems pretty rare on ebay etc, so is the version I have, a test beta, even more rare? This is what it says on the disc:

Not for sale - Preview & Test only

Crime Patrol
Game
1.01
13-10-95

TESTING - Beta
Cat N°810 0194

There are of course less test discs rather than retail discs, so it's pretty rare. But in my opinion it's not worth a lot. It doesn't have any unseen material on it, it's not really 'beta' as it's typically the full retail version printed on test discs.

The 1.01 discs were typically the first versions to undergo full FPD (Final Product Delivery) testing and usually contained some show-stopper bugs (Philips used to by fairly strict about this). So they were normally *not* identical to the full retail version, which was often at 1.03 or higher (I know of at least one game that released at 1.13).

I've played it somewhat much and haven't run into any bugs, but there may still be some in there.

(Let's kick some butt!!)

the cdi versions of crime patrol and drug wars are for the time pretty good conversions, i have pretty much got all of the american laser games except for the last bounty hunter, i spent 90 pounds on buying both crime patrol and drug wars but i stick by that they were worth it.
