Gobliiins on cd-i

Anything relating to CD-i can be discussed in this forum. From the multiple hardware iterations of the system to the sofware including games, reference, music and Video CDs. Maybe you hold an interest in Philips Media and the many development houses set up to cater for CD-i if so then this is the forum.

Gobliiins on cd-i

Post by Alan_Eng » Sun May 29, 2011 12:24 am

Hi everyone.

I posted a while ago about the classic game 'Gobliiins' appearing on the French cd-i discs 'ADI CM1' and ADI CE1'. 7 levels are available on each disc.

The first level is available straight away, but you need to unlock later levels by studying!!

I can confirm that to unlock later levels, you need to gain 20 points, which doesn't take too long at all. As long as you know your French!!

Best Wishes
Alan

Hi Alan,
I'd still love to see some pics/video material! You think that's possible?

I wonder how easy it would be to extract the whole game of Goblins from these discs and repackage it to a single disc to make an entire game?

It depends entirely on how closely integrated these games are with the rest of the disc and how modular and/or data-driven the game engine is (e.g. does it enumerate the available levels from the cd?).

At any rate, it would require someone with disc building and perhaps programming experience; as far as I know the only ones of those still around are Peter "CD-ice" Dabbs, Charles "Frog Feast" Doty and myself. Or someone would need to educate himself, it is possible...

Any takers?
