CD-i marketing regions?

Anything relating to CD-i can be discussed in this forum. From the multiple hardware iterations of the system to the sofware including games, reference, music and Video CDs. Maybe you hold an interest in Philips Media and the many development houses set up to cater for CD-i if so then this is the forum.

CD-i marketing regions?

Post by InTheSand » Thu Aug 18, 2005 1:19 pm

Hi,

We're all aware that the CD-i players and software titles were marketed throughout Europe and North America. But... where else (if anywhere) were CD-is actively sold?

Did any make it to Australia or New Zealand for instance (other than the ones I brought with me from the UK!)?

Regards,

- Ali

on a small scale it has been distributed in asia, yes. In japan they even developed the Golgo 13 game for cd-i! you should have a look at the feature about this game on black moon.

However, apart from Golgo 13 i've never heard of any specific asian or australian title.

Aha, so I may well have some of the only CD-i players in New Zealand then!

Quite odd how the Asian VCD market was (and still is if Singapore and Malaysia are anything to go by) the biggest in the world. Unfortunate that not all Asian VCDs have the CD-i player application present on the disc, but quite a lot seem to.
