"Historic" CD-i players for sale to good home...

Anything relating to CD-i can be discussed in this forum. From the multiple hardware iterations of the system to the sofware including games, reference, music and Video CDs. Maybe you hold an interest in Philips Media and the many development houses set up to cater for CD-i if so then this is the forum.

"Historic" CD-i players for sale to good home...

Post by allenhuffman » Fri Oct 28, 2005 9:20 pm

Greetings from Des Moines, Iowa. I have about a dozen various types of CD-i players (most are development systems) sitting in my livingroom. These were owned/used by Microware and Optimage for CD-i tool development (and some were probably installed in kiosks operated by Micromall). At least one unit has a SCSI hard drive with who-knows-what on it (devtools most likely).

These units were rescued from the old Microware building and I volunteered to offer them for sale rather than relocating them to the new office.

If anyone is interested, I can compile a list of what all I have available.

oh, ofcourse we're interested! What kind of systems do you have? Can you show us some pictures? If you don't have any space to host them, you can also mail me (email is in my profile), and I'll host them here.

Welcome!

Hi Allen, good to hear from you! So you've finally decided to unpack all those boxes? Depending on what's in it, I might be interested!

Of course, this holds double for any unusual software or dev tools...

Allen, will you be posting that list here, or should anyone who's interested send you a private message?

CD-i 490 for sale

Post by davcrag » Thu Nov 03, 2005 8:57 pm

There is a gentleman I have been in contact with who has 19... Yes, I said 19, CD-i 490 units for sale. I might pick one up for my self just to add to my collection. Depending on condition, he is selling each one for between 35 and 60 US dollars.

I am truly not that familiar with the 490 model. Is this a good unit?
What type of laser pickup does this have and is the battery easy to replace?

Thanks everyone!

If anyone else is interested in these units, let me know and I'll put you in touch with the guy selling them.

Sorry it has taken me a bit to get back to you. I just spoke with the gentleman this evening and he has 4 cd-i 490 units left for sale. He is also giving us our choice of wired controllers with the unit. He has the sega style gamepad as one choice! I have one unit on the way to me as we speak!
His name is Orin.
His contact information is orinesh@aol.com
