CDI 220 Drive Drawer...

Was wondering if anyone out there could help me with my problem.

Went to use the system today, and encountered a problem with the drive. (Which is weird because I just used the system this morning with no problem!)

The system knows when the drawer is open and closed, but it won't open and close when I tell it to. I have to literally push the drawer into the system, and pull it out by jimmying it open with a butter knife. It reads the discs fine, and if the drive is closed, and I press the open button, even though the drawer doesn't come out, the system sees it as being open.

Anyone else ever have a problem like this? I don't wanna buy another system if I don't have to. Thanks in advance!

First, do you hear the cog spinning when you push the button?
Does the player at least try to open the drawer (perhaps it gets stuck, or it won't do anything?)

I don't hear any noise, except when the disc initially loads. It lasts about a second or so, then goes away and loads properly. It doesn't sound like the machine is making any attempt to open the drawer physically, but like I said, the system is recognizing that the drawer is open when open and closed when closed.

However, now the drawer itself is tending to "bounce back" open about a quarter of an inch, causing the disc not to load, until I hold the drawer closed for a few moments.

At first, I thought maybe I got the drawer off track, but now that it's doing the bounce back, I'm not so sure. (A plus is that all of the pushing and stuff hasn't caused harm to any of the discs. One of the discs I was playing today was brand new, and no damage, thankfully.)

Any suggestions?

My issue is I'm ready for a new system, but I don't see any for sale that are in good shape. :(

Most of the times the belt that drives the tray is worn.
Replace the belt with a new one, square belt 38.5 x 1.4 mm.
After replacing the belt door and tray problems are gone.

The belt for the CDI 210 and CDI 220 are the same.

Replacing can be done by removing the top cover.
Onhook the tray, on the left back side of the tray there is a clip that can be pussed away with a screwdriver.
The tray can then be removed out of the front.
There is now enough room so that the belt can easily be replaced.
Slide in the tray and the tray will hook itself by sliding in.

For the dutch people:

The belt can be purchased at www.elektronica-online.nl
Look for vierkante snaar 38.5 x 1.4 mm
