I have a CD-I 450 with a DVC but I can't seem to play Thunder in Paradise. The console acts like it's about to boot the game but it keeps coming back to the main Philips CD-I menu.
I have Les Guignols de l'Info and Dragon's Lair II and they both work so does anyone know what can be done to fix the problem ?

is it an original disc? Copies may be corrupt....
Is it scratch-free? The 450 is rather sensitive about small scratches.
Have you turned off the player before trying the game? I noticed some games leave data in memory when you exit the disc, (like updating drivers?) and other games hang when playing them without turning off power.

You could try to read the disc on your computer, make a disc image and burn this on a cd-r.

You can find a link on my cd-i webpage.
I suggested to try to make a disc image, because if your computer can read the disc, there might be nothing wrong with it. In that case the problem is caused by the player.
I successfully made disc images before from cd-i discs that wouldn't play, including ones with a lot of scratches. The discs I burned played fine.
Moreover, downloading software is illegal. But makeing a back-up (for personal use) of original software you bought is not or might be not, depending on where you live.
Finally, as already mentioned, a disc image you find on the internet might be corrupt.
BTW: Strange problem. I also bought my Thunder in Paradise brand new (+/- two years ago) and played it on my 450, but it works fine. I guess you also have a US version from eBay?

I bought it from the GoodDealGames website (along with Flashback and Dragon's Lair II). But it indeed is a NTSC game.rdjnl wrote:You can find a link on my cd-i webpage.

I'll try to make an image out of it. Is there a special way to do it (I'm not really used to doing stuff like that).
