Timekeeper battery

Anything relating to CD-i can be discussed in this forum. From the multiple hardware iterations of the system to the sofware including games, reference, music and Video CDs. Maybe you hold an interest in Philips Media and the many development houses set up to cater for CD-i if so then this is the forum.

Timekeeper battery

Post by Alan_Eng » Thu Jan 21, 2010 9:22 pm

Hello everyone

I have to face the reality that my battery will probably soon go on my beloved cd-i 490.

Please can you help me... what is the part that I would need to replace it, because it will not take the CR2032 battery?

I'm sure that Devin tried to solder this on himself; how easy is it to do?

Many thanks for your help.

Alan

I've not had to do the solder fix myself Al!

Bas has covered this in great depth with various links from the people that have done this work on a CD-i. Just check out his blog for the answers and remember DO NOT mix up the + with the - otherwise it will burn your player!

I'll have to defer to cdifan, but isn't it possible to dump any data held in NVRAM with cdilink then pump it back once the modification is done?

That sounds really great - I'd love to know how to do it!
