CD-i 490 in disguise!

Post by Devin » Sat Jun 19, 2010 4:36 pm

Just picked up a knackered 470 to have a poke around. Once I opened it up I found a Digital Video Cartridge installed which was only supposed to be found in the more advanced 490 model! Everything points to this player being labelled a 470 so what gives? Just curious if others have experienced this with other CD-i players?

You wouldn't believe how many torx screws pin this 470 together! Just need to persuade the laser to work now :D

The 470 also has a socket for the digital video cartridge: I thought the difference with the 490 was that the DVC was integrated by default. Or does your '470' also has 32kb memory?

Probably right! I'll have to get the laser working then fill up the memory and see :D
