Hey Gazza, welcome to 3DO Zero's sister forum. Not as much action on her (at least as of late), but plenty of older posts to check out. Bas mantains a great CD-i blog also.Gazza wrote:Hi all,
I joined up last month already but I just thought to say hi to everyone here.
I'm from South Africa and I've had a CD-i system for about two years now.
So far I've only got a few games but looking forward to adding to my CD-i collecton, and to visiting the forums here more often.

Hey everyone, just popping in to say hello! I have actually been next door for some time now as a member on the 3DO Zero boards. I enjoy gaming on all consoles and have had experience with most that have been available over the years. I even owned a CD-i in the late '90s (Magnavox 450 model) and enjoyed it when I had it! Some of my favorite games include the 7th Guest, the Apprentice, and Mystic Midway: Rest in Pieces. I've become curious about the system again as while I played it quite a bit "back in the day", I am just now discovering a lot of titles that I didn't even know existed for the system. In 2011, I hope to obtain another 450 model and learn more than I did before about the platform in general!

hi mikey and welcome to the forums
i'd be one of the few that agree with you about voyeur, well partly. I would say one of the greatest FMV games ever made.
Indeed Bas has the first disc of Voyeur 2, but you won't find it on any rom site. it's unfortunate but he receives prototypes from developers on the condition that he doesn't release them. that or he maintains this clean reputation so in future developers will donate prototypes to him, i think.
either way it's a shame that CD-i gamers will never be able to play the majority of unreleased games because of this. i suppose we should be grateful that there are at least a couple unreleased games which have been dumped.
if you ever happen to see an unreleased prototype game for sale make sure you buy it, that way you can upload it to a rom site for all to enjoy.

'allo 'allo!
I recently re-acquired a CDi again. I've had five of them since I first grabbed one (a 450 with no DV cart and dead spindle motor) from a thrift for $10 in '95. A buddy got it to work though.
I tend to amass a healthy collection, get bored, sell it off, then start building it all up again.
This is the first time I've owned one that was NOT a 450/550, and I wish it was one of those (it's a 220). The seller on ebay said EVERYTHING WORKS GREAT. So of course the time keeper chip is dead and the tray needs a little shove to get it to close all the way. I already ordered replacement parts so that'll be sorted out shortly.
I've already about 30 or so games, the same number of educational titles, and a couple of VCDs.
I spent last night playing through Mutant Rampage, and my thumb is about to fall off. I hate the controller that comes with the 220! I need to find a game pad asap.
So anyhow, I'll be sure to start a What Games Should I Get thread, because I think it's in the forum rules that every noob should do so.

Hello, Just got a cd-i yesterday from eBay. An American cd-i 220. Unfortunately UPS got a little rough with the box and the CD tray broke into 3 big pieces in transit. Working with the seller to get some insurance out of it. I was able to epoxy the CD tray back together and the system works! It even has a working timekeeper chip!
So being that I've joined the CD-i community I wanted to say Hi, tell you my story, and if anybody has spare front loading tray they'd like to sell, send a message my way!
